PUBLISHER NEWS RELEASE:
New Children’s Book Survivalist Sam Saves the Day Co-Authored by Kermit Jones Jr. and Bestselling Author Angery American – Based on a True Story of Ham Radio Rescue!
Opelika, AL – November 12, 2023 – Survivalist Sam Saves the Day is the latest addition to the Prepper Pete & Friends series, co-authored by children’s author Kermit Jones, Jr. and bestselling survivalist author Chris Weatherman, better known as Angery American. This engaging and educational children’s book, now available for pre-order, is based on a true rescue event where Weatherman used his ham radio to aid in locating a missing person when cell phones had no signal and were not working. Survivalist Sam Saves the Day is set to release on December 12, 2023—just in time for Christmas!
The story brings young readers on an exciting adventure with Survivalist Sam, who, much like Weatherman, relies on ham radio skills to assist in an emergency. After noticing someone’s mom is missing during a martial arts field training exercise, Sam springs into action. Realizing their cell phones have no signal, he uses his ham Radio to coordinate with local responders to help locate the missing person, emphasizing the power of ham Radio in emergency preparedness and the fact that it requires no infrastructure.
“When I heard an interview on Ham Radio 2.0 between host Jason Johnston and Chris, I knew it was a story that would resonate with the Prepper Pete and Friends community,” says Jones. “This is a true story that is a clear example of ham radio skills making a real difference when cell phones aren’t working–something that happens more often than people thing. Our goal is to inspire children to learn potentially life-saving skills while enjoying a good story.”
